The methods we will discuss include using vinegar and olive oil, dish soap and baby oil, lemon, and commercial stainless steel cleaner. At the end of the article, we will also share our simple method for cleaning the inside of your fridge.

The vinegar and olive oil method

One of the most popular methods for how to clean a stainless-steel refrigerator involves using vinegar and olive oil. As strange as this combination may sound, we guarantee it works!

Here’s how to clean your stainless-steel refrigerator using vinegar and olive oil:

  • Find a clean spray bottle.
  • Add ¼ of a cup of white vinegar to the bottle.
  • Fill the rest of the bottle with warm water.
  • Spray and wipe every outside surface of your stainless steel fridge.
  • Dry each surface with a fresh dry cloth.
  • Once dry, get a new cloth, pour a couple of drops of olive oil, and shine each surface of your fridge. Continue to add a couple of drops of olive oil as needed. Alternatively, you can use a spray bottle of olive oil.
  • Your fridge should now be sparkling clean!

The soap and baby oil method

The next method to clean a stainless steel fridge involves using a combination of dish soap and baby oil. Using soapy water to clean your appliance and then polishing it with baby oil works great.

Here’s how to use soapy water and baby oil to clean your stainless steel refrigerator:

  • Find a clean spray bottle.
  • Add a few drops of dish soap to the bottle and fill the rest with hot water. Alternatively, you can fill a container with hot soapy water and soak a cloth in it.

The soda method

The soda method involves using standard club soda in a spray bottle to clean and polish your stainless steel fridge. If your fridge has any food and drink stains, you can first wash it with hot soapy water before applying the soda method. Likewise, if your fridge just needs a shine, you can use the soda method without cleaning it first.

Here’s how to use club soda to clean your stainless steel fridge:

  • Find a clean spray bottle.
  • Fill it with club soda – you only need about ½ the bottle.
  • Spray and wipe every outside surface of your stainless steel fridge. For best results, use a couple of different cleaning cloths.
  • Dry each surface with a fresh dry cloth.
  • Your fridge should now be sparkling clean!

The commercial method

The commercial method involves using a specialist stainless steel cleaning spray. There are many good brands, and most supermarkets and department stores will stock them.

Here’s how to use the commercial method to clean your stainless steel refrigerator:

  • Purchase a commercial stainless steel cleaning spray.
  • If your fridge has many stains on it, you can wash it first with a homemade or commercial cleaner.
  • Spray your fridge’s outside surfaces with the stainless steel spray and wipe with a cloth. For best results, use a couple of different cloths.
  • Your fridge should now be sparkling clean!

The lemon method

The lemon method involves using lemon juice to shine your fridge. Lemon is a powerful natural acid that will remove stains and give your fridge a lovely shine. All you need is a fresh lemon and a clean cloth!

Here’s how to use the lemon method to clean your stainless steel refrigerator:

  • Cut a lemon in half.
  • Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice onto a clean cloth.
  • Polish all surfaces of your appliance. For best results, use a couple of clean cloths.
  • Your fridge should now be nice and clean!

How to clean the inside of your refrigerator

While it’s great to have a clean-looking fridge on the outside, it’s also necessary to give the inside of your refrigerator a regular clean. So we decided to share our simple method to help you get the inside of your fridge sparkling clean.

  1. Empty the fridge. Start by removing every item from your fridge. If necessary, you can place some items in a cooler while cleaning your appliance.
  2. Throw away expired food. The next step is to check all food and drink items to ensure they have yet to pass their best-before date. If you find any that have, throw them out.
  3. Take the shelves out. Remove the shelves and food drawers from your fridge and clean them with hot soapy water in your kitchen sink. Once clean, dry them with a clean cloth.
  4. Spray and wipe the inside. Once the shelves are clean, spray and wipe all inside surfaces. You can use a commercial cleaner or make your own one using 1/3 of white vinegar mixed with warm water.
  5. Clean the seals. The next step is to clean the door seals (sometimes called door gaskets). Make sure you get into all of the tough-to-reach parts of the seals. You can clean them with a cleaning spray and a cloth.
  6. Make sure your fridge is dry. Before putting your fridge back together, make sure the inside of your appliance is dry.
  7. Put your fridge back together. Once clean and dry, you can put the shelves back in, followed by all of your food and drink items.
